Brisbane born, New York based Carla Robertson is creating uber cool eco-friendly sunglasses from Zyl Acetate - a sustainable product made from wood pulp and natural cotton fibres. These bio-based glasses not only look fresh to death, the renewable materials offer a great alternative to the sea of plastic framed sunglasses out there and will break down at the end of their life. Each pair of glasses is hand-made and true to their slow-fashion ethos, only two collections per year are produced. The glasses come in a simple hand-made vegetable tanned leather sleeve as opposed to bulky plastic containers - “more taste, less waste” is what they’re all about. All styles are uni-sex.
Sunglasses retail for NZD $229, Optical lenses go for NZD $367. Shipping to NZ is around NZD $35. Shop the full collection here. And don't forget to check out the Afro-Punk shoot.
